Fault Code: GF
Ground Fault Diagnosis
Investigating isolation failures and moisture-related grounding issues in your PV array.
Introduction
A Ground Fault (GF) occurs when there is an unintentional electrical path between the PV array current-carrying conductors and the grounding system (earth).
This is often caused by damaged cable insulation, moisture ingress in junction boxes, or poor connections in wet environments. For safety, the SunHopper®-D will shut down power conversion until the fault is resolved.
Troubleshooting Steps
Isolation Check
1
Inspect PV panels for cracked glass.
2
Check junction boxes for moisture or insects.
3
Inspect wiring where it enters conduit.
4
Verify panel frame grounding is secure.
Environmental Factors
1
Check if faults occur only during rain/snow.
2
Look for pooling water near conduit runs.
3
Ensure all connectors are fully seated and clicked.
